Wasn't the Vietnam War over like 37 years ago? Amount in my paycheck today and whether we cower in the corner apologizing like idiots for being America seems a little more important than what either guy did 40 years ago.

This sounds quite a lot like Dan Rather talking about Bush in 2004 when Jon Carry was running as the Vietnam hero. Remember when the hero took one of hisPurple Hearts down from his website after being forced to do so. Remember that it took 3 PHs to get out as fast as Jon Carry did and he signed all three of them.

Hey, odanny, can you tell me when Bush was deferred and why? I didn't think you could so don't feel bad that you can't.

Do you have some proof other than the words of the head racist from MSNBC? Go ahead and post it.

The deferrals themselves don't bother me.

However, supporting the war and specifically the draft, combined with obtaining deferrals, is ragingly hypocritical. Anyone who thinks that there is such a manpower shortage that we need to conscript men and force them into combat under penalty of imprisonment, that person had better be at the front of the line of the nearest recruitment office demanding to serve.

The deferrals aren't the issue, it's the deferrals combined with the fact that he wanted to force others to serve in a war where he wasn't willing to serve.

Not only that but not one of his 5 kids made the choice to go anywhere near the military either. Like most of the rich and privledged, he opted to leave it to the poor folks to do the fighting.

Bill Clinton avoided Vietnam as well as big talkin' Al Sharpton.

This kind of talk ain't going to get Obama re-elected.
Maybe and maybe not. It defintely hits a nerve with me. This guy wants to lead a nation that he actively avoided serving and one where he won't even keep his money. Maybe he should run for President of the Cayman Islands. Obama is probably too stupid to use the issue but it is a good one to use.

Bush was AWOL, Cheney got 5, Mitt got 4, to follow this proud tradition I think Mitt should choose Ted Nugent as his V.P.
