Not me. I've heard just as many horror stories of the Haight as I have good ones. A whole sh-tload of drugged out, dirty runaways with no means of support. Sort of like the Occupy Movement.

Sorry, but a legal military deferment is not draft-dodging, much as you'd like people to believe it is. Either you're really not particularly well-informed on most of these issues or else you just figure the rest of us aren't. But thousands upon thousands of young men got deferments during the Viet Nam war. There were many of different situations permitting these deferments. People who defected to Canada were draft dodgers. You may not like Romney, but posting inaccurate information is certainly not going to help your cause.

Anyone tried to get out of going to Vietnam. Only those who had no alternatives went. I remember the lottery system....and they called the numbers during the nightly news....you had to live during that time...no one can judge him on that....

McCain and Gore went -- they both came from familes of influence and could have easily avoided service. Kerry went -- in fact, he specifically requested a Vietnam-theater assignment. A lot of people willingly went.
But, again, the evasion isn't simply the issue -- the issue is supporting the draft, acknowledging the manpower shortage and the need to use the threat of imprisonment (conscription) to alleviate it, and still callously refusing to serve.
And for what excuse? Because of the pressing need to convince Frenchmen of the authenticity of 'revelations' supposedly made by an angel named Maroni in upstate New York...

I am not quite sure how you could put him in a catagory close to Jane Fonda? Do you put Clinton in the same catagory or do you not remember he skipped out rather than serve? At least Romney was serving his church, which, is required by the young Mormon men, right or wrong. How about Biden? We could debate this forever..Many young men found reasons not to serve in Nam, I personally would never let that influence my view on anyone or would it keep me from voting for a candidate. I will add, I am 100% pro military, my father was a retired Naval officer, my brother in law was retired Air force, and our son was in the first Desert Storm.
Of the last 5 Presidents, only George Bush Jr (aka W) was a monger for wars. Romney is also a monger for wars. The issue is not whether somebody went to Veitnam or served or hid behind deferments or went to jail or Canada. I don't care as long as they were not war mongers. But don't hide your ass from going to tell everybody else who is not as rich as you are to go. That is THE issue here to me.
