Incumbency has its advantages, but so does being a challenger. As a challenger, like Romney, you can spout off about the other guy, make outlandish claims about what you would do without having to get your ideas passed by Congress, and just hang out in the weeds and take pot shots. As we get closer to the day, Romney will have to be more specific and have to appear on TV other than Fox. When that happens people will see how devoid of personality and empathy he is just like they did during the primary campaign. His many positions on every issue will expose him as an unprincipled spoiled child of privilege. He will go down handily.
Here are some hard numbers to digest in regard to Romney's reign as govenor of Mass
2.5 billion deficit
State spending increased by 6 billion
46th in job creation
750 million in increased taxes
I'll address the only one that is true. The reason there was not as much job creation in Mass during Romney's term is because they had close to full employment-4.6% unemployment! It is hard to create jobs when everyone is working.
You didn't mention Romney's all-important "business experience", which he'd use to revive the economy.
Surely you've heard about his Bain Captial years. When he shut down US manufacturers and laid off thousands of American workers, making himself a bundle in the process.
He's the poster boy for Republican economics. Just what this country needs.
You do know that Bain has an 80% success rate with businesses, right?
That IS what this country needs. Unlike our president that has shut down "green" manufacturers, laying of thousands of workers, and used our tax dollars to do it, at great benefit to his campaign donors.
There is nothing wrong with what Bain did. It's really no different than someone in 1909 buying the local blacksmith shop, selling the tools and then turning it into a motorcycle shop.
Catholic Bishops and 'Nuns on the Bus' are pretty clear on how they feel about the immorality of Ryan's Budget. Wonder how long til Mitt flip-flops on supporting Ryan's nonsense?

You forgot going to bankruptcy court to get legal agreements with current and retired employees and creditors canceled and then firing the workers, closing the shop and sending whatever business was left to China.
Mitt is only taking credit for the part of Bain's success that makes him appear to be the successful businessman. There is a reason that he stops there; it's because he got rich doing EXACTLY what every American loathes about big business. Bain did turn a large profit, but it did so at the expense of every party involved, other than themselves, through bankruptcy court. Mitt & Co. got rich; everyone else got screwed. Bain made costly business and moral commitments based on how easily they could shed those commitments through bankruptcy. Bain acted like a bunch of a--holes for the sake of making a dollar, and it's going to become the crux of Romney's campaign (particularly during debates) if Obama continues calling him out.
Unfortunately for Mitt, Bain's business model is completely inapplicable to running a country.
