Allowing ineligible people to vote suppresses the value of MY legitimate vote.

Another important topic that unfortunately now is so full of irrelevant unsubstantiated crap from both sides it makes for a difficult discussion.

How does this work, exactly? Are Obama voters unable to get a photo ID, but Republican voters can? Is there a genetic flaw in Obama voters that prevents them from spelling "D-M-V," much less finding it on a map?
Yes. Doesn't take much analysis, and there was plenty of context.

It's very difficult for example, for people living in a nursing home to get a photo ID. Elderly people tend to vote democrat. By forcing this unnecessary requirement the Republicans suppress the Democrat vote.

But, you know all this already. You look silly not admitting it.

Why not just say, "Yes, Republicans are passing legislation that is designed to suppress traditionally Democratic votes and use legislation as a form of office retention..." Why all the lies and subterfuge about voter fraud? Is it because the truth just looks unethical?

It should be noted that this thread was merged.

The original thread was about Mike Taurazi admitting that voter suppression efforts of the Republican party. The thread I started was about a second admission -- that just occurred where PA GOP leader Mike Gleason admitted the same.

Top Pennsylvania Republican Admits Voter ID Helped Suppress Obama Voters | ThinkProgress

So to be clear, that's two Republican PA leaders admitting that the voter-ID efforts are about suppressing the Democratic vote...

So Republicans-- Let's have the truth for a change. Just admit it.

I wonder how all those old people even get social security or Medicare without an ID. Surprised all the disenfranchises old people are not dieing in the streets without benifits because they cannot get proper ID.
But it is ok to require me to show ID and secondary proof of residence when buying a gun and pay a fee, that isn't disenfranchisement at all. Think about all the old people on nursing homes that cannot buy a gun because they don't have ID.

Our Republican Secretary of State, Scott Gessler (personal friend of mine) has used taxpayer funds to hire his old law partner Steve Klenda (personal friend of mine) to sue the Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper to speed up the recall election. Why you might ask?

The Republicans are afraid that if the vote takes place after all the students at Colorado College are back in class, there will be too many pro-gun control votes to win. Yep. The Secretary of State is using taxpayer funds for a partisan ploy to deny legal voters their participation in the recall.

Like they say, "politics ain't bean-bag."
so, out of state college students, voting in CO state elections, thereby upsetting the vote cast by the actual state residents, got it.

You apply for social security when you're 62, 65, or 67, not when you're (usually) in a nursing home. Medicare is at 65. You don't need an ID, to receive it, by the way.

Perhaps a local community college has a civics course you can take?

Okay, if you are too lazy and/or stupid to get a photo ID, then don't bother to vote, or cash checks, or fly a commercial airliner or... yadda, yadda....
