The other part of the problem with the "voter ID" issue, is that some of the states insisting on this requirement (like North and South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia), "coincidentally" are the very same ones that once had "poll taxes" and "literacy tests" and other Jim Crow-style hanky panky, which resulted in the Voting Rights Act of 1964 (renewed in 2006). So because they already have a "history" with "improprieties", the Justice Department has to give them approval for any changes to their voting procedures... which means the burden is on those states now to demonstrate that they've cleaned up their act.

[quote=tofurkey;24931582]So after 50 years of failing to do anything about illegal voting with no real Federal action to verify voter rolls, some imbecile in PA decides that a handful of STATES - at resident voter demand - trying to correct the issue is a GOP power grab to win a Prez election.[quote]
Can you site more than one or two cases of voter fraud being peerpitrarted in Pennsylvania? Mr. Turzai's spokesperson couldn't.

Agreed, Kos is very partisan, so how about you read one of the dozens of other sources following this story?
I even did the work for you. "Turzai Voter ID" Google Search

Anyone stupid enough to have their vote suppressed illegally shouldn't get to vote in the first place.

There is no reason that any legal citizen shouldn't and can't vote. In fact, it should be required by law that every legal, adult citizen vote. I'd rather lose every election in a free system than win by deceit.

Voting fraud, has elected more crooks, than people even realize.
Have you noticed how it is all a buddy system, compromised of collective groups?

If you erect a financial obstacle, you can prevent some legit voters from voting.

Free state IDs -- different than driving license.

Not sure about every state, but NPR had a secretary of state from one state on that said free IDs for voting purposes.

Pa`s governor who was the state Attorney General for 6 years failed to find one (1) case of voter fraud to prosecute but now he signs a bill to halt the non existant fraud. Anyone but a complete idiot sees this as voter suppression.

You have the Assange website Wikileaks claiming evidence that the Dems cheated in 2008 Ohio and Pennsylvania that some Republicans believe: Dems Rigged 2008 Election: Wikileaks

"Though the state does not have a catalog of in-person voter-fraud cases, Ruman said the previous lack of an ID law made it impossible to tell if a person was trying to commit fraud. “You can’t prosecute something you can’t detect,” The Corbett administration has estimated that only 1 percent of all voters lack ID. Since Corbett signed the law, PennDOT said it has issued 943 free identification cards to voters who otherwise did not have one. " Ruman said.

So you are not allowed to check for voter ID Fraud, and since you didn't find any when you couldn't check, that means none exists........and because PA gives you free IDs, it is sooooo complicated to get an ID. Liberal logic gotta love it...ooops actually a lot of Dems (39% last I saw) support this including the overwhelming majority of Independents and Republicans.

The closest ID center to me is about 12 miles away.If I had to pay someone to take me(no bus service available )it would cost money to vote. Poll tax! It doesn`t matter what Wikileaks claims. Governor Corbett as AG prosecuted zero cases of voter fraud. Mike Turzai spilled the proverbial beans.
