Has anyone in Alabama experiences this cituation?.....You receive a letter from the state unemployment division, that notifies you of an appointment at the career center.. But, the date has already passed and they have stopped your benefits for failure to appear. I check my mail everyday and open everything I receive from the UD. This happened to me this month: On Oct. 3rd I received the letter, it stated the appointment was for Sept. 26th, the letter was dated for Sept. 16, I called the career center , as I am reading the letter, to reschedule. But, they had already stopped my benefits. Then the next week I receive another letter, "Failure to Appear", that notified me my benefits had been stopped because I did not reschedule within a certain time (I think it was 10 days).I think this is how they can say the unemployment rate has dropped , it happened to a friend of mine, also. What is suspicious about it is, it happened to her the 1st part of July and it happened to me the 1st part of October......both times were the beginning of a new quarter. The career center even said it happens all the time!
