Romney: 'Looking Forward to the Bust of Winston Churchill Being in the Oval Office Again' | The Weekly Standard

I still think it was very telling that this is one of Obama's first acts as President. Note that the other person that hated Churchill more than Obama was none other than Frank Marshall Davis. I also find it despicable that this was not widely reported on or taken to task when he did this. The more I learn about Obama, the less I like. There is a lot more to this man that we see or know.

Question

Has anyone ever asked Obama about him doing this?

That was so lame. The WH is the American people's house. If you don't like Churchill put it under a table with a cloth over it or something. Don't make a big stink out of it and return it to our allies and friends.

For crying out loud. The bust was on loan to George Bush and had to be returned when Obama took office. It's common practice that a newly elected president gets to pick new art they want in the White House for the next four years. They look through a catalog of art that the national art curator can obtain through a loan program. Once they pick something out, there is a contract for the loan to cover a certain time frame. For anyone to read something more into returning the Churchill bust to its owner is silly and it shows that the Republicans will do/say anything if they think they can score points with their uneducated or purposely obtuse followers.

So you are saying it had nothing to do with Obama's feelings towards Churchill which coincide with Frank Marshall Davis's hate of the man?

Is this Romney's plan for making an absolute ass out himself with his first 24 hours in London?

The utter ignorance of conservative Americans shows here, yep the Brits believed Churchill was such a hero that they dumped him in 1945, that is him and his government.
Churchill, it was his moronic idea to attack the Turks in their strongest position in WW1, Gallipoli.
It was Churchill's moronic idea to send 60,000 Australian and Kiwi soldiers to take on 500,000 Germans in Greece in 1941.
It was Churchill's moronic idea to invade Italy in 1943, otherwise known as one more mountain range or river to cross.
Ask the Texas division about attacking across the Rapido, they got slaughtered.

If only the memory of Sir Winston Churchill was as sacrosanct in the U.S. as the right to wield heavy support weapons in crowded theatres.

Well, I think its clear that Obama isnt the only one who has close views of a communists like Davis. I think there are more closet commies among the far left than we realize, or perhaps they realize themselves.

I don't think the new president needs to return anything---they just move them to another place in the WH.. It was a gift from England---who returns gifts? It was a slam and it was meant to be a slam. Shameful really.

Yes, yes, NZ - but you forgot to add something about boring the Limeys stiff with those droning speeches in '40 and '41.

"'We are still masters of our fate. We still are captain of our souls.'"
