Most likely the dog was up there because the passenger compartment was full of people. If you put the luggage on the top of the car, the dog would have had to go in the trunk, which I think would have been worse.

since it was an Irish Setter I can only assume that the carrier was too tall to put in the "wagon" part of the station wagon. Which is not to say that they couldn't have rented a bigger car and driven both vehicles to wherever it was they were headed. But most people don't want to spend $200 - $300 to rent a car just so the darn dog carrier will fit. LOL

I'm completely fed up and disgusted with this idiotic discussion about Romney's dog. What I want to know is who gets to use the riding crop when Refalca isn't doing ballet.

Do you really think this guy is presidential? And don't come back with your juvenile Obama shots, this has nothing to do with him. He let's his dog ride in the car.
Poor libs now you all are being reduced to debating the finer points of dog care. Let me know when you libbies want to debate the issues.

Romney shows a horrible lack of discernmant in so many areas. He also treats the rest of us normal people like we don't have a brain in our heads.

On the day the Bastille was stormed and the Revolution began, July 14, 1789, Louis XVI's notation in his diary was "Rien" ("nothing happened"). For the very privileged, what the little people do simply does not matter.

This discussion is just plain stupid. Again, I wouldn't do it, but a dog riding on top of a car in a kennel (not tied down with bungie cords like the picture liberals try to paint), is akin to a dog riding in the back of a pickup truck, or hanging it's head out the window at highway speeds... things most dogs like to do.
I like to be able to keep an eye on all my living assets, so my dog rides inside with the rest of us.
I have a dog. I have a child. The dog is great and I give it the best care I possibly can, but never in a million years would I elevate it to the same level as my child.

I don't understand how letting the dog ride in a Kennel on top of the car, and letting one ride in the back of a truck is any different. Most dogs I have had love the air, slobber on the windows trying to stick their noses out.
