Well, feisty Helen Thomas is not speaking favourably about the Democratic candidates (and frankly, neither am I).

The Democrats who enable Bush

Are we all just plum fed up?

Ms. Thomas has a point, but so do the people she complains about. Bush was warned prior to undertaking his folly of an unjustified invasion that if he went into Iraq, he'd better be prepared to stay there for decades. But so inept has been the conduct of this perversion, that the purposes envisioned behind such an extended stay have been made all but unattainable. It may be that the only logical choice at this point is a US withdrawal, but if that is to be implemented, it should be done so as to minimize chaos insofar as is possible, and what time frame may be associated with this last attempt to get something right in Iraq may be difficult to know. Better perhaps not to set some 'campaign promise' date in stone, but instead to pursue the policy with all due haste, whatever that might be...
