New Hampshire Voter ID Law Cleared By Department Of Justice

Yay!

The U.S. Department of Justice has cleared the way for the state to implement its new voter identification law for the upcoming elections. New Hampshire is among a group of states, including Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama, that are required under the Voting Rights Act of 1964 to submit any election law changes to the Department of Justice for review to determine whether they would result in racial discrimination. The state came under the act's purview because of poor voter turnout in 10 towns in the 1968 presidential election and because it still had a literacy test on the books at the time.
Under the new law, which won approval Tuesday, voters will be required to show photo identification beginning in November's general election. A wide range of identification, including student IDs, will be accepted this year, but after that only driver's licenses, state-issued non-driver's identification cards, passports or military IDs will allowed. Someone without photo identification would sign an affidavit and be photographed by an election official.

How many cases of voter fraud were prosecuted in New Hampshire prior to this law being enacted?

Who cares? If it prevents one legal citizen from being disenfranchised, then the law is worth it. I don't know why you liberals value your votes so little.

So registered voters without ID could be denied to vote?

From January...

No fraudulent votes were actually cast. But in nine instances, clerks readily handed over ballots after a would-be voter implied he was the city resident, recently deceased, still listed on the voter checklist, according to
a video posted on the Internet.

So are those the guys who tried to commit voter fraud to prove there is voter fraud? Good luck with court dates!

Tell that to Why Not?, who seems to believe any attempt to ensure the integrity of the voting process is a devious plot against liberals.

One more chance for the right to attempt to steal the election. At this point they will need more than this to help Romney.
