In a feat of gymnastic virtuosity hitherto accomplished only by the hindquarters of a highly-trained dressage horse, Willard M. Romney has twisted himself into a pretzel while continuously and furiously shaking an Etch-a-Sketch before the wondering eyes of the editorial board of the Des Moines Register. Fortunately for Mr. Romney, his total absence of backbone ensured that he was not injured while performing the feat. Fortunately for the Romney campaign, his committed supporters will believe anything, while polls indicate that undecided "low-information" voters are largely convinced that "Planned Parenthood" was a book by Dr. Spock.
We know the conservatives in Congress wouldn't let him do that. He'd be beholden to them. Like Grover Norquist said they only need someone to sign the bills.
And why can't a politician change their positions. If we the people can, then politicians also should have the right to change their mind.
That is called growing.
No matter who the politician is, they do have a right to have a change of heart, what are they never ever suppose to change their mind.
As some people get older, they change their views and opinions.
That is a legitimate point, but Romney does complete reversals in matters of hours on some things and switches key moral and philosophical positions every few months.
In fact aside from wanting to be president and not wanting to pay a high tax rate I don't have the slightest clue what Romney stands for anymore.
In this case he went from supporting a personhood amendment, in an interview with Fox host Mike Huckabee, to saying he is not going to propose any changes in abortion legislation.
In this case he went from supporting a personhood amendment to saying he is not going to propose any changes in abortion legislation.
He didn't say he was suddenly no longer against abortion. He simply said he wouldn't pursue legislation relating to abortion. He mentioned that other issues were higher priorities.
While he did say he supported the personhood amendment, he never said he supported what it would have/could have done. In fact he has said he is against some of what personhood amendments would/could do.

And where were all these multitude of 'changes' during the Republican primaries where such positions would've completely ended any chance of him becoming the Republican nominee for president?
We're not even talking about a number of years here, we're talking about literally 6-12 MONTHS since the primaries began until now that he went nearly a complete 180 on alot of major issues.
Are you telling me its completely fine for a man running for office to make that big a switch for the sole reason to gain the presidency? For me, I find it simply DISGUSTING AND INSULTING that such a man could even run for such an office with so little dignity and integrity and refusing to stick by his core beliefs no matter what in favor of doing everything necessary to become president.
And its even MORE SAD AND SHAMEFUL that so many Americans would give him a pass on this complete makeover because they're too stupid to see through their hate for Obama and the Democrats to use their brains for a moment and see that Romney is pulling the wool over their eyes and is SUCCEEDING.
