He clearly was referring to binders full of resumes from women. But he worded it wrong. Why not focus in on the intent? Obama made many mistakes like that too.

Seems childish to be obsess over this.

Members of a coalition of Massachusetts women's groups on Wednesday disputed Mitt Romney's assertion that he requested the names of potential female candidates for high-level, state positions when he was elected governor.
'Binders full of women' effort predated Romney - journalreview.com: News

Maybe because it was a lie. He never 'requested' them.

You checked. I just assumed if his mouth was moving he was not telling the truth. He told so many whoppers in the first debate, you can safely assume that most of the things that come out of his mouth are lies.

The reason that people are making fun of the "binders full of women" comment is because it lacked tact and professionalism. He could have easily given specific examples of those women instead of making it sound as if he has simply relegates "women" and "others" into names on a piece of paper. '

Not to mention that keeping information in binders is soooo in 1956 It just proved just how out of touch he really is. It seems as if he stepped right off the set of "Mad Men" or something.

I might add that one of the reasons is that many of us find it amazing that over his long and successful career Romney hadn't met or hired any of the hundreds (if not thousands) of qualified women that were already out there. Instead he needed someone to go out and find them for him.

Because they have so little to criticise him for in that debate. They are reaching for anything.

This is what busy men do. They have experienced people helping them while they do the heavy lifting keeping the business open.

Binders filled with resumés would have been acceptable ifit were not for all of the other reasons that other posters have given.
It sounded detached and insensitive and void of the human factor which is not unusual for Romney in his arrogance.
