I have relatives who have talked seriously about their fear of riots in their neighborhood if Obama loses. One has even said she thinking about staying with other relatives if she thinks it will happen. She has been getting more worried about it lately. She is a Obama fan. I don't necessarily think she is being overly dramatic.
Your relatives' fears are unfounded, IMO. People are always talking about a fear of riots. See this citation from the Bible:

Libs tend to be irrational and can turn violent, but they usually just destroy property. When Romney is president, those death threats will be a federal crime and action will be taken. Until then, one simply has to realize that there are nut jobs everywhere and idiots suggesting "death threats" is just part of the political landscape.
It's liberals like Ted Nugent that give all of them a bad name.

Since, according to her, it is her friends and neighbors telling her that's what they plan to do, I'm not about to poo-poo her fears to her face. In certain neighborhoods, fears of riots are more legitimate than in other neighborhoods.
