Can Romney later replace Biden if the EC goes 269/269 and both are picked by Congress as the winners?

If not, can Romney send Uncle Joe to Siberia on an extended good will tour or throttle Biden's ability to use the office of the VP to criticize the President or the GOP in general?

Also do you think Biden would resign or just sit in office just to deny the GOP a position in the government?

I almost wish it would happen just for entertainment purposes. I mean, really, the VP does nothing.

As to your question, I don't know if Romney could replace him. I doubt it. Probably not until 2016.

Just read somewhere that this could set up a possible Biden presidency if Romney dies. Talk about Halloween horrors.

If that happens, can a president fire a vice president?

Far as I can tell the VP can only be impeached. The office can be vacated by impeachment, death, resignation and being bumped up to President. Apparently the office can be vacant. There are no requirements to have one.

Apologies to the leftists. I guess it wouldn't be a nightmare for you all to have Biden enter the Presidency through the back door.

The odds of that happening are very, very small. But, you never know.

The VP isn't exactly a position of power anyway, so what does it matter who the VP is?

It would be interesting, to say the least.

If the electoral college goes to 269/269, then congress and the Senate get to vote on the President and vice President.

The house, controlled by Republicans, would very likely pick Romney as the President. The Senate, controlled by Democrats, would likely vote for Biden as the VP.

I doubt very much a Republican house would vote for Obama, and a Democratic Senate would vote for Ryan.

Its a long shot for a 269/269 anyway, but hell anything is possible I guess.

The VP position can be, and has been, vacant. The president can not fire the VP. It would indeed be interesting.
