I am starting this thread because I am sick of the infighting on these boards. I propose that after the election regardless who wins we pledge to keep our citizism of the president to policy issues only. Family, religous beliefs, personal beliefs to right to life or pro choice, where a president was born, etc should be kept off these boards. We need to unite behind whoever wins.
There is still plenty to complain about. Size of goverment, apppointees, green energy etc... This are not attack issues based on the person. They are policy based. If we continue to be devided we will fall.
The lies and hate coming out is getting worse by the day from both sides and if it continues it will pull us apart.
Please join me in pledging to keep it in house. Dont bring the personal attacks to C-D. Keep it policy based.
I can't say as I hate anyone on this board. I have some fear for their intellectual levels and voting status, but I don't hate them.
No, I'll continue with arguments that I feel need to be argued. And I can complain against either party, because I'm not voting Obama or Romney.
What I notice is a lot of false choices, and making up things about one candidate or the other. It doesn't matter if Romney made money by shutting plants down. And Obama did inherit a worse situation then Romney will get next year if he wins.
That's what I've noticed more and more, false choices with one finger pointed at the other guy, while three point back at yourself
A president sets policy based upon their personal beliefs. An insight into these beliefs are a large part of what people look to in making a decision on who to vote for. You can not separate the two.
OP, your idea is wonderful, and I'd add to quit using offensive words to describe people of the opposite political persuasion. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ever happen here. Some people get their kicks by putting down others.

I have noticed a marked increase in the number of posts, a marked increase in the negative language used at other people on a personal level, and a marked increase in ignoring facts (from both sides) since the election really got under way.
I think it'll go back to its normal level of discourse within about 3 to 6 months after November.

I have never said that, if Obama or Romney wins, that they won't be my President. But I can take a negative look at each of them in a more outsider way, because I'm not voting for either.

Thats what I am worried about. I get a sense that some on here will not support the president and will call the election stolen if their choice loses.

In an election this close, thats going to happen anyway.
I guarantee you, the same people who said "Bush won fair and square" in 2000, will scream bloody murder, voter fraud, go to the popular vote, something along those lines if Romney wins the popular vote, and Obama wins the electoral vote.
And if Obama loses, you'll hear some of the same arguments from the left. But most people won't feel that way, or those feelings will recede over time.

I have noticed this increase as well.
If Obama wins, it will probably get back to normal right away. Of course, "normal" on CD can be pretty weird. If Romney wins, there will be a whole new set of policies to criticize.
