Obama is only for Obama, the message is clear. all that is needed is someone with some ability who will try their best and that it matters, and that it is for a cause other then himself. It would be unusual for Obama to get elected and perfectly expected that there would be lots of barking...but when the individual is alone and making that one choice...selfishness in others always comes last...people don't like selfishness, and thats all Obama says
Me.. Me..me...me......me............me................. .....m...................................m

Bye Bye

I think it is a rebuke of Obama and an embracing not so much of Romney, but of something different and better than the path to destruction Obama has led us down.

Now it's fact ala Fox "News". Vague, but so what? Congress nowhere in the picture, no effect on "the presidency".
I read your post. Then you go on about the polls and the debates - fine. My beef is with that first basic assumption.

The question is, what is behind these basic beliefs with nothing solid to support them - no evidence that we are being "led to destruction" over just the last four years. Let's see, what could be some rationales for a conservative "savior" to come along?
* A gut feeling of some sort.
* Right-wing at all costs.
* Remove the black guy who stole "our" White House.
* Back to simpler times when things were "better" and everybody knew their place.
* Unfettered laissez faire capitalism, zero regulation, serves everyone best.
* Corporations will do what's best for the country.
* The wealthy are "better and wiser" and therefore deserve to rule.
* Government is socialism and the less of it, the better.
* The lower-class vote is destructive.
* Wishful thinking.
* Blind faith in the "white right".

It will be a rebuke of Obama if he loses. Any time an incumbent loses it is because people are majorly unhappy, most people don't like to rock the boat when things are going well. Last year I voted for our sitting governor, even though I didn't the election before, because even though I didn't think he was great I felt he was doing a decent job. I won't be voting for Obama, even though I did last election, because I don't like how he has performed the job on almost every faucet. I have said for quite some time I am an ABO voter and the would vote for whoever had the best chance of beating the man. After the first debate I was a lot happier with my option, but no I am not voting for him per se.

We will never have a close election in this country again. When a Democrat that's to the right of Bill Clinton can be painted as a radical Leftist, and Republicans who have voted Republican in every election are being called RINOs b/c they aren't vilifying Obama at every turn, you can kiss objectivity good bye.

Obama won because of the publics perception of Bush and GOP mismanagement during Bushes last term. This was signalled by the Dems taking over Congress in 2006. The economic collapse during the campaign run-up to election day as the icing on the cake...which gauranteed Obama would win in 2008.

So here's Obama. A fresh face. Good speeches. But what happened.

The economy didnt really get THAT much better...the jobs lost during the recession and the Bush years didnt come back. Though we are technically in a "growing economy"

And Obama barely got that his "Obamacare" passed. The way that happened signalled that he was a weak and barely competent president.

So the voters are disenchanted with Obama, but perhaps not enough of them are ready to dump him just yet. Romney is, despite his waffling (which is due to political expediency), a credible competent candidate, so he is obviously doing better than McCain did, since McCain had the albatross of the "W Era" on his neck (and goofy Sarah Palin...though she probably helped more than hurt with the GOP base).

So, yeah, I think the voters are not happy with Obama, which is why its so close. It was going to be close anyway, just because the situation now is different in 2008.

I love you all! Love the responses and perspectives you all are giving for the upcoming election. I also love the fact that we can have this dialogue, even though we don't all agree. You all rock!

A little of both but mostly a rebuke of Obama. He's a failure and an embarrassment.
