If you think this is bad then you must be horrified at the thought of Flip wanting to privatize FEMA. this would add 30% at least of overhead and make their operating budget explode, or cut services in the greatest times of need.... Now that's a scary thought.... almost as scary as people voting for Flip.

Fighting and name calling doesn't change much. In a national disaster such as Florida, 9/11, Katrina, OKC, Joplin and now Sandy. Congress will quietly pony up the money to get the job done. Most states have emergency funds set aside. It is a drop in the bucket compared to the money needed. Americans will rally to help. There is still an ongoing problem with rescues, water, food, heat, lights, communications and shelter. But the big issue is water and sewage, downed power lines and tree debris. There is an unintended bonus. Sandy is going to employ a ton of skilled workers in 11 states to operate heavy equipment and clean up. It will take years. NOLA is still recovering in some areas.

The good news is Wall Street and JFK are open for business. No fare NYC busses are running where they can, and Amtrak is reshuffling routes into the city too. LaGuardia is toast. It has to be rebuilt. So does New Jersey.
