These republicans are actually starting to talk like human beings on the TV. I've heard a lot of talk of "coming together" and compromise. Something I haven't heard in a long time from belligerent, confrontational republicans.

If they would have shown this side before the election they may have had a much better chance.

Well it was a tactic. After Obama was elected they adopted a strategy of opposing everything he was going to do. Take a look. First off it didnt work, as we can see from Tuesday. Adopting that strategy again would be unwise from a tactical standpoint.

Second off for all the partisanship in this board and the hate both parties want what they think is best for America, they have different ideas though, and this current climate of partisanship is not good for America. We cannot afford another 4 years of this, and they will have to work together like they did in the past.

I don't care what they say until their actions change. If they still think compromise is agreeing to whatever they want then their words are useless.

I think things will be tough, but there should be more compromise this time around.

Heres hoping it unravels like a ball of yarn. America cant afford anymore bipartisanship.

They were sent to Washington by the voters to do a job, not spew their ideology constantly. The world will never be the perfect place that we think it should be. These people should be masters at working with people they disagree with in a productive manner.

There is a quote out there that sometimes get attributed to Republican Senate Leader Everett Dirksen and sometimes not. The quote is that there two parties in Washington — the stupid party and the evil party. Every once in a while the stupid party and the evil party get together and do something that is both stupid and evil. In Washington, that is called bipartisanship.–Erick Erickson, “It’s What Happens When the Stupid Party and Evil Party Get Together,” April 12, 2011.

Sadly the bipartisan evil stupidity of the 2000-2010 era has got us to the point where government action is needed to stop the bleeding. We are in the position of having to hope two insane parties find a rational solution. Things ain't looking good.

I'm sorry, but this "they're both the same/two insane parties" is nonsense and nearly as oblivious of facts as the Tea Partiers and RWNJs. Dems have their shortcomings, no question. But have you not noticed that of the two parties, Republicans are the folks who've been very publicly and systematically, purging their ranks of all their moderates (which is the very definition of "extreme")?!

Or perhaps you have some clever "solution" for "compromising" with folks who are just as dogmatic as any born-again Fundamentalist, and whose opening gambit is usually seeking the Uppity Socialist, Muslim Kenyan's head on a platter?!

The best thing about Obama being elected is when he and his party refuse any kind of compromise he has no one to blame when his policies fail over the next 4 years.

We'll see... talk is cheap (on both sides).
