Yes the GOP had a couple morons talking about rape etc. but not Romney or 99.9% of the GOP.
Women had no worries about losing contraceptives with a Romney presidency. Only democrat political operatives ever suggested there was even a thought of the GOP taking them away. Do women really think that abortions will ever be illegal in America? Maybe the GOP would like to not have them publicly funded. But these two issues pale in comparison to the debt crisis Obama has expanded and the jobs crisis Obama has not helped. Women will retain their freedom to kill their unwanted babies but they will lose many other freedoms under Obama. More expensive energy will force the behavior Obama wants. The nanny state will tell them what to eat and drink. Their dollar will devalue forcing them and their children to have a lower standard of living. Their children will be saddled with the debt of this generation. They, their husbands, and children will find it harder to get jobs. But woman will still be able to get publicly funded abortions. Yay!

This relates more to single women.
Married women voted more for Romney.

Dozens of states tried to pass personhood legislation (bans abortion under all circumstances, plus many forms of birth control and in vitro fertilization) over the last couple of years, with the goal of creating a Supreme Court challenge to Roe v. Wade, and Romney openly said that he'd support efforts to ban abortion. If he would have won, he'd be in a position to nominate 2 new Supreme Court justices. This wasn't the only reason why I voted against Romney, but it was a factor. You can try to spin this any way you want, but the R's loudly and clearly shouted that they were going after Roe, and a good chunk of women in this country took them at their word.

The single women called the Republican party's bluff and the Republicans lost. Simple as that. I don't think it was actually a bluff though I think women's rights would have certainly been slowly eroded away first by state legislature then later on a national level when it reaches the justices again. That's how the Republican party operates. Single women weren't stupid enough to be taken on the Republican rape train.

my father in law over heard a few coworkers saying women put their self interest above the country... unfortunately the GOP really believes old white men should be in control of a woman's body.

If the GOP were smart they would let women do the talking... and not Coulter or Palin.

Women voted 55% to 44% for Obama ... other than that, women were clearly split even.

They put their intentions right there in their party platform for all to see, and I, for one, took them at their word. Are you saying, OP, that Mr. Romney and the GOP said things they didn't believe simply to appease the far right in order to get elected? If so, no worries, we knew that all along. But we also knew that Romney lacked the backbone to stand up to those crazies--indeed, that they were driving his campaign message--and that was enough to drive women away in droves.

This is why the GOP lost the election. They keep trying to spin the truth and they think that people are stupid enough to keep falling for the half-truths.

ABORTION is NOT publicly funded. It just isn't...federal money is NOT allowed to be used for abortion.

Women do not want YOU specifically to pay for contraception. They want the health insurance they get through their jobs to pay for contraception the same way it pays for other Rx medications. Yeah you know the health insurance that people have to PAY for through deductions in their pay checks as well as co-pays for every MD visit and Rx re-fill? How is that making YOU pay for contraceptives?

Also, yes Romney and Ryan had a plan to make abortion illegal. How? There are about 3 supreme court justices who will likely retire in the next four years. Do you think Romney/Ryan were going to choose liberals or conservatives? Come on now.

STOP LYING!

Yet the silence was deafening. Did Mr. Romney or his surrogates do anything to call those morons out?

Let's look at Romney's own campaign webpage, shall we?

Values | Mitt Romney for President

Quote:
Mitt Romney is pro-life. ...

Mitt believes that life begins at conception and wishes that the laws of our nation reflected that view. But while the nation remains so divided, he believes that the right next step is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade...
He's pro-life, he wishes the laws reflected that view, and he desires Roe v. Wade be overturned. At least according to his campaign.

Or - he's just lying to appease a certain voter segment.

Or we can look at the GOP program, duly passed at the convention:

Quote:
"Faithful to the "self-evident" truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution"
Illegal? The GOP wants to make abortion unconstitutional.

Or - they're just lying to appease a certain voter segment.

This goes to show how uneducated the average Obama supporter is..

Presidents CAN NOT outlaw abortion. It would take a constitutional amendment to do so.. But here ya are, pure ignorance.
