As they gathered to formally cast Arizona's electoral votes for Mitt Romney, three electors, including the state's GOP party chair, used the opportunity to issue statements, questioning Obama's qualifications for office. One protested the president has yet to be properly "vetted" (). The other two merely questioned Obama's birth certificate.

It does my heart PROUD, I tell ya, to see Arizona's GOP continuing to embarrass itself, and the entire state, at every conceivable turn. It HASTENS the day of reckoning for Arizona's GOP, when the good people of the state finally decide they are tired of being a national laughing stock

Harpers editor Ken Silverstein had a great essay about all this kinda nuttery called, Tea Party in the Sonora, For the future of G.O.P. governance, look to Arizona. Here he describes this as part of a much broader situation, like a sort of huge unchecked Grover Norquist fantasy, along with the consequences for AZ (and the rest of the country).

Well, bless their hearts. I wonder if they're really that dumb or just feel they must cater to an electorate similarly challenged? Either way, I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

Lightbulb Three Arizona electors question Obama's "qualifications" at ceremony

More evidence that self-delusion is a major characteristic of the right. Even among high-ranking party officials.

Those guys still can't get over how badly they lost.

They need to get used to it. They are in a demographic death spiral.

Probably the worst part is that most of these nutters apparently don't even represent the majority of the voters. They're simply a product of GOP gerrymandering and arcanely drawn districts, combined with a primary process that rewards the party's most extreme candidates!

''I'm the 'true' conservative!.... No, I am!.... No, those guys are just a bunch of RINO's, I'm the most conservative candidate (aka, the most bat-sh*t crazy)!!''

Oh it is always entertaining to watch a state make a fool of itself politically. And if anyone in Arizona wonders why none of their politicians will ever be president, this is why.

here's a radio interview with tom morrissey where he says he's not a birther....... then proceeds to talk exactly like a birther.

Arizona GOP Chairman Tom Morrissey Says He's Not a "Birther," but Obama's Birth Certificate Doesn't Seem Real - Phoenix - News - Valley Fever

the part i love is when morrissey claims that he's be skeptical of romney as well if he released something similar. romney released online his contemporary state certified COLB as proof of birth....... which is EXACTLY what obama released in 2008.

so much for that claim.
