Somewhere in the multiverse there is a reality in which Romney is being inaugurated as President today.
Maybe a Republican scientist from the year 2148 will invent a quantum transport device that will enable all of today's disappointed Romney backers to shift over into that reality. Wouldn't that be nice?
Oh, wait... Republicans don't believe in science. Never mind.
Obama had incumbency on his side. Aside from that, the election was Romney's to lose, and he did. By cozying up to the rigid right he ceded social issues. He was weak on foreign policy. That left him with economic issues, the President's weakest area. But he did not convince anyone he had a plan to get people back to work. And promising to kill Big Bird didn't help him either.

Believe it or not, there was an idiot claiming just recently that Romney still had a shot, I'm not joking.
