"Republican Rep. Peter King of New York confirmed to Newsmax that he is seriously weighing a bid for the Republican nomination for president in 2016. "Very honestly, I'm going to look at it . . . I'm going to look at this, I'm going to take it seriously, see where it goes," King told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. King, former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he has been approached by "several serious people" about throwing his hat in the ring, including former Attorney General Michael Mukasey. "I am going to listen carefully, talk to friends, talk to advisors, see what kind of response it gets, and it'll probably give me a higher profile to speak out on different issues and see what kind of response I get from that," King said."
He will definitely be controversial. He wants to basically stay in Afghanistan indefinitely. That won't sit well with a large portion of the electorate .
The commentary I heard that made the most sense is that he is being encouraged by party bosses not to actually run for the presidency but to get in the race and take down the candidates considered unelectable. This would let the other front runners not bloody themselves in a primary.
I will assume this means Paul since he got a couple of mentions. Althoug it could also mean the other Representative King.
The House is a bad launching pad for Presidential bids; no House member who didn't first go on to another more substantial office in the interim has won a major-party nomination in over 100 years, and none has been elected President since James Garfield in 1880.
Representative Peter King Is Thinking About Running For President In 2016
Without Obama's voter stimulation machine and a free phone data bank, King won't stand a chance outside the Ohio to Maine voter block. Well, actually outside his congressional district.
King is my Congressman, have never voted for him for the House, sure as hell wouldn't vote for him or President
I have to ask, in all honesty how many Republicans have you ever voted for?
