SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney, seeking to protect his lead and fend off challenges from rivals in this early-voting state, assailed Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee over supporting tuition breaks and broader sanctuary for illegal immigrants or their children.
Some quotes from the article highlight Mitt's problems to me, and indicate why the Democrats would probably slaughter him:
Huckabee said in a phone interview with The Associated Press: "The attacks from a guy who has sanctuary cities in his state is interesting."
Giuliani spokeswoman Maria Comella accused him of ignoring his own record as governor while he campaigns for president. "Under Governor Mitt Romney the number of illegal immigrants skyrocketed, while he recommended millions of dollars in state aid to numerous sanctuary cities and to companies employing illegal immigrants, not to mention the illegals working on his own lawn," she said.
Flip/flop Mitt, the guy elected Governor in the state of Kerry and Kennedy, yet an arch conservative.
huckabee does not have a chance, but mitt certainly does. newtoca just points out that mitt can take a liberal state. it is about time that we have a business leader who resurrected a private company take charge in this country. i guess we will just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

Nice try at twisting what I said. Actually, the 2004 Romney could win a liberal state, not the 2007 Romney. He actually could run against himself, if you took enough of his positions four years ago and contrasted it to his current positions.
I think that he had possible traction in the Republican primaries against Rudy and McCain, but I think Fred kills his chances.

I agree Mitt is looking more and more appealing these days. I really like his private-sector experience: that's where real Americans work and move this country forward. Not in government.
One thing Mitt said in a debate that's really stuck with me: Hillary has exactly zero experience managing anything, public or private. She's never run a business, and city or a state. The only thing she's ever been "in charge" of was the disastrously failed attempt to take over the U.S. healthcare system, early in her hubby's administration.
Flip Flopney is a 100% fraud. He's a weirdo, too. Did you know he shunned rock music, girls, and alcohol when he was in college and was a virgin until his marriage? Not to mention he will say and do ANYTHING to get elected, he has changed his position so much on about almost everything he makes HILLARY seem like a straight-shooter.
He should finally make up his mind on whether he's a conservative or a liberal, but then again he'll change his mind next week anyways so it doesn't really matter.
