Pointed Question Puts McCain in a Tight Spot.

When presidential candidates appear at public forums, passions about the field are often on vivid display. Monday, Senator John McCain received a question from a woman in Hilton Head Island, S.C., that was blunt and harsh.

“How do we beat the *****?” the woman asked.

Mr. McCain was obviously uncomfortable, trying to deflect the vitriol with humor and offering to give a translation. But he did not condemn the questioner, instead calling it an “excellent question.”

I think he handled it just fine. What was he suppose to do chastise her? He was even so gracious as to state that he respected Ms Clinton. He basically ignored the questioners insult and answered her question. He probably decided it was better to ignore it than make an issue out of it.

Seriously, when did the media get so sensitive? I'm sure they have all used much worse language. . Just another opportunity to ignore the issues and try to put a negative light to conservatives.

Divide and conquer? Of course by the looks of the last democratic debate they were doing a pretty good job of it to each other.

I'd like to think so, but she'd be crazy not to pick Obama for veep, Wesley Clark as Secretary of Defense, name Biden as Secretary of State, make Edwards head of HHS, put Chris Dodd somewhere where he can pontificate, make Kucinich Ambassador to the Moon, and, let's see -- oh, yes: Richardson is already auditioning as her chauffeur.

Thanks for the story. As a women I was not offended by his actions. What else should he have done...Chastise one of his supporters? I would have lost respect for him if he would have went on a tangent about not using "that word."

What a horrible question?

But I dont begrudge McCain..he has no qualms about coming to Downtown San Francisco at this lunch and called us "the city of satan"-most locals laughed and give each other high-fives, I was there myself and laughed like everyone else did. He continued on with his speech-no harm done.

That lady who asked the question comes off looking like tasteless.

Nice question! And by a female, too. But hey, wait a minute! Aren't all females voting for Hillary???!!!

Seriously, my granny always said to call a spade a spade......that's just what the question asker did....
