Interesting. The republican he beat in the primary supports him. This Kirk / Durbin friendship seems to underscore that once elected 'too' many times, politicians' constituency is forgotten, in favor of various DC friendships. And all that that means.
Oberweis is a perennial losing candidate here in Illinois. He's a multi-millionaire who has attempted to buy his way into many different political offices in the state for over a decade now. He has been rejected by voters so many times his nickname in the state is the Milk Dud (his wealth comes from his family dairy business).
I don't blame Kirk for not wanting to link his name to this loser.

Regardless of Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk's political ideologies, they actually represent the exact same constituency, regardless of if they voted for them or not.
You have a problem with the Illinois Congressional Delegation working together to represent the people of their state?
I would suspect that Kirk is thinking of 2016 and not wanting to be associated with anything that could damages his already slim chances for re-election.

Regardless of Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk's political ideologies?????? It's always about policy.
Anything else is lemming mentality. The inability to think for yourself. A thought process you just admitted you endorse.
Kirk is very similar to Durbin on many issues, especially social. Oberweis is a wacko and Durbin is popular so I don't see him coming close to winning.
As a former Illinois resident who used to live in Kirk's district,I'm not surprised. He is about as liberal as it gets on most issues(except for national defense). I actually met him on a few occasions and he was helpful in getting an uncle Korean-War medals he had earned,so I have nothing against him. Saying that,he's a big gun control supporter as well as 100% pro-choice. I guess a better option than Alexi Giannoulas would have been.
