So this "Ted Cruz" you speak of, isn't his first name Rafael? So calling him Rafael Cruz would be accurate.

It would be confusing, however.

Just like the case of the California guv who we call "Jerry" whose real name is Edmund.

Rafael Cruz is the name of a noted theologian that happens to be the candidate's pa.

That is a bit of a red herring. YES, the ACA was not favorable but why total defund it? What purpose does defunding do it rather than say trying to work with Democrats to actually fix the aspects of the law that wasn't that good. That's the issue. Had the Republicans truly put up an idea to confront an adaptation of a Heritage Foundation proposal to the idea of Universal Healthcare in America.

God, the same lies from you people certainly get old. But don't let repeating lies stop you. After all, it's what good little apparatchiks do.

As far as the "demographic problem" of the Republicans, these things change as well. Before the late 60's, many ethnic groups like Poles, Italians, Slovaks, etc., voted overwhelmingly and solidly for the Democrats. As they moved up economically, their votes became more in tune with the general "white vote", and I don't think they are even polled any more.

If hispanic voters and blacks actually do move up economically like other ethnic groups have, you can expect their loyalty to the welfare state above all other things to wane as well. Ironically, it isn't to the Democrats' advantage to have their largest supporters succeed economically.

At this point, Reagan was the fringe far right wacko, that wasn't going to come close in the GOP primaries.
