Aside from the financial crash at the end of W's term, what else made his approval rankings tank?

War.

While Rand Paul has issues with many GOP faithful regarding his foreign policy, if he were to make it through the primary, he might just draw in voters who would otherwise not vote Republican.

The bank and auto bailouts raised the ire of many Americans as well. That is another area Rand might connect with voters.

How often have you seen/heard Americans suggest we should take care of our own problems before sending a dime overseas in foreign aid? That could resonate with many voters.

It would be a difficult race, but he could have enough crossover appeal when all is said and done.

It is mind blowing that no rational dem has stepped up, where are all the adults in the party? Never mind that her last name is Clinton, she is damaged goods. Is this the year the dems just concede the election to the GOP and get Hillary out of the way... BobDole, John McCain? Or has she already sucked up all the money on the left?

None of the GOP candidates are going to win, with their sudden outright attack on the gay community, with 63% of Americans supporting gay marriage, the old generation dying off and the younger generation now holding onto their progressive political stances more than ever. More people switch from Democratic to Republican than the other way around. And they all deny science, climate change and want RELIGION more integrated with public policy. People don't like that and will be turned off.

The Republican party is imploding before our eyes. Thankfully.
Wow! you really need to get out more... Trump? Are you kidding!? Sudden outright attack? your post is laughable homos make up maybe3%. The only people making them an issue is themselves. Haven't really heard much about the anti-science plank either. Please explain the new initiatives being put orth on the integration of religion into public policy.

It ain't the percentage that counts. It's the social cause. The gays have seized that field, and all the inertia is now on their side. A big rock is hard to start rolling, but once it rolls, it rolls with a force that is just as hard to stop.
Why? Because gays come in all races, social classes, and ethnicities. A gay Hispanic's win is as much a Hispanic win as a gay win. A gay white scientist's win is also a win against the anti-science religious bunch. And on it goes.
