Ted Cruz said, "Contempt for Donald Trump supporters will guarantee GOP defeat."

Cruz is basically warning the Republican base that if you attack or call Trump supporters idiots etc, it will guarantee the GOP defeat because they will be so sick of the establishment that they would rather not vote at all or vote for the Democrat out of spite.

Do you agree or disagree and why?

Name calling; really stupid: just because someone supports someone we do not like does make anyone an idiot. But the contempt will not hurt in the end or let's say, depending on who the nominee is and what happpens on the other side. it is heating up right now as well. I am guessing a lot of the so called Trump supporters might not be inclined to vote Republican anyway. I have no idea where they are coming from, but I just don't see them as true Republicans. or at least the majority of them.

Agree. The establishment needs to look at the four fingers pointing back at themselves every time they blame conservatives for McCain and Romney's loss.

I also agree. I think it's important to remember most of Trump's supporters are tired of the establishment and that includes Republicans and Democrats. Many view Bush and Obama as the same thing. They are mostly Republican/Conservatives who are tired of hearing Republicans say elect us and we will balance the budget, we will secure our border, we will do this and that, yet nothing gets done. Trump brought it to attention that all establishment politician are controlled by their donors because they need their donors to win elections, which is why nothing gets done. Trump is known for being very aggressive and his supporters truly believe he will fight tooth and nail to get things done in Washington because so far, no newly GOP candidate has fought hard on their campaign promises.

For me, I'm a Trump supporter who is fiscally and a conservative and socially a liberal. I voted for Obama both elections, but so far Trump is at the top of my list followed by Sanders. Other than that, it will be another election between a turd sandwich and a giant douche. I would be nervous as of now voting for Sanders, but if Trump doesn't make it, I would still do it.

I'd disagree about no GOP candidate fighting. Cruz and Paul have both been demonized for their efforts in Congress, Cruz in particular holds many of Trump's positions, but the guy can't seem to show emotion or passion for his beliefs. Too much lawyer and too little motivational speaker. Paul doesn't seem to rub people the right way, but it seems to be sort of a nebulous issue instead of some specific weakness like Cruz.

There are a number of others who have stood by their promises in Congress, but the Republican leadership in the vein of Bush, Rubio, and Christie fight these people much harder than they fight Democrats.

BS, no matter how much they are offended about Mr. Trump, Tea Partiers will still come out to vote against Hillary/Bernie/Omarosa/Whatever. They can't help it, and that's perfectly okay.

I like how Raffy is so transparently positioning himself to be the heir apparent to Mr. Trump when and if he drops out. If Raffy gets a big chunk of Mr. Trump's supporters, he could propel himself to the top overnight. Smart boy. A++.

The Tea Party didn't support Romney.

Disagree, and Cruz just confirmed what I always suspected, Cruz is also an idiot. If you go around supporting an idiot who calls everybody an idiot, expect the same treatment. An eye for an eye...

1. A GOP defeat is all but guaranteed in 2016 no matter what they do.

2. Ignorant Teabillies will vote for whomever Limbaugh/Fox tell them to vote for. For millions of Teabillies their nasty billionaire-boot-licking ideology has superseded their RELIGION. In 2012 millions of supposedly gawd-fearing christians voted for a guy who openly worships Elohim and believes he'll be a Gawd with his own planet when he dies! So they'll vote as they're told... problem is there just aren't enough old, ignorant white racists left to elect Bush III. So sorry

I agree. Trump is an ass, that is confirmed. But the motivations of his followers are legitimate, if perhaps a bit short-sited. Engaging in personal attacks against his followers won't help. Trump is already melting down and there are still about 170 days until the first primary. Name calling directed towards his supporters is counterproductive and not very helpful.

These people have an important voice and and an important message that the Republican party and the entire establishment in Washington needs to listen to and hear clearly. Trump is just the lightning rod and the lightning is striking. He is not going to be president and virtually all of his supporters already know that, even if they are unwilling to say so yet.

My advice is listen carefully to the message that his supporters are sending, as that message is important and has real merit. However, the messenger they have chosen is not the one. Most of his followers will come to grips with that soon enough, as long as people do not back them into a corner. Trump will finish this on his own without help, if allowed to do so. There is no need to push.
