Not all police departments are unionized. I say it's pretty much evenly divided so couldn't say who the majority would vote for being they are not one issue voters.

Somehow staying alive ranks higher than tax cut for the rich. Washington has completely lost touch with the country.

If they deal with MS13, a lot of crime by illegals (including domestic calls), live in NYC and if they don't think the Democrats have their back, then they might vote Republican because the other issue is which party will give them and/or their spouse a bigger paycheck. Also, the kind of thing you see on the news is typically big city stuff. There are plenty of places in this country where police officers don't have to deal with murder and mayhem on a regular basis.

Yes, some in law enforcement won't see murder, etc on a daily basis, but they are most certainly influenced by what is happening with their colleagues in the big cities.

Which party controls the cities that have thrown their police forces under the bus in lieu of the violent criminals? I think this will yield your answer.

Which party asks Questions about police officers being held accountable when they shoot unarmed black men? Black Lives Matter wouldn't exist if not for the videos of many black men being killed by those who are supposed to "protect & serve".
As for what party they will vote for? Does it really matter? They are a small amount of the Electorate to begin with.

In this case, it really makes no diference: police officer, like the military normally vote Republican and probably will for many years to come. of course not all, but a majortiy. We have many friends, retired from both the military or police forces and have a few others still active. Not a one of them are Democrats. They support various Republicans at this point, but will vote for the nominee.

Based on the socioeconomic and psychological profile of people who tend to be in the police and the environment they serve in, I am pretty sure they are predominantly Republicans. At least that's what previous surveys have shown for the most part.

But of course, if the policemen live in NY, IL or CA, for example, their votes won't make a difference for the Presidential election. If they live in a swing state, they could have an impact.
