"When Trump first entered the Republican race, his net favorability among Republicans was indeed terrible. 'Taking into account name recognition, Trump’s net favorability rating (favorable minus unfavorable) of -32 percentage points stands out for its pure terribleness at this point in the campaign,' FiveThirtyEight.com data journalist Harry Enten wrote at the time Trump announced his bid in June. 'Like his unfavorable rating, it is by far the worst of the 106 presidential candidates since 1980 who are in our database.'”

So at the time, Enten says Trump has a better chance of playing in the NBA finals than getting the nomination. But now, his favorability rating is similar to Romney's at this point in time of his 2012 campaign. The conclusion is whether he wins or loses the nomination, favorability rating won't be the factor. There are charts in the article.

Trump Has Similar Favorability To What Romney Had | The Daily Caller

LOL! He said that back in June. I'm betting that he is wishing he never said that now. The very poll cited in that opinion article you linked says two things now.
  • Trump's lead is holding stead and/or getting better.
  • And more importantly, he is currently tied to with King Hillary to win the presidency.
That is a remarkable rise for someone who was described as having a better chance to be in NBA. It's not similar to Romney at all.

Trump and Sanders are pretty much the equivalent for each party. Both demonstrate the extreme positions of their respective parties base. Both rant and rave about boogymen. Neither has a real plan. They are the clown show of their respective parties. I expect to see both fade quickly as the primary gets a bit more serious. The fact that either are taken seriously attests to the sad state of our country. And the ignorance of much of the electorate. Both do serve one purpose-their ranting does bring attention to some important issues that the more establishment oriented candidates would like to sweep under the rug.

Well, except for the fact that Sanders has close to forty years' experience in government, and Trump has zero.

If you don't actually know anything about Sanders' plan, don't feel obliged to post.

Like whether Mexicans are all rapists or mostly rapists? Like how beautiful the big door should be in the wall?

Trump is a racist clown. It's an insult to compare him to a dedicated public servant like Sanders.

Dude, just spit coffee on my monitor reading that. Sanders is a frickin' clown that's been feeding at the public trough nearly all his life. I dislike Trump, but he's actually DONE something, not just rant like a loon.

Done what? Inherited 20 million dollars? Run his casino business into the ground four times? And that impresses you?

I'm impressed by people who have experience in government and understand how it actually works. If you elect amateurs, don't be surprised when they don't have a clue what they're doing.

Romney did not promote birther ideas, he did not insult Hispanics. He treated people with respect except maybe the time he got caught talking about the famous 47% He still got the Cuban republican vote.

Romney just had no chance because he was running against an incumbent president.

Trump is not winning crap. Not in a million years.

Yes, his racist rantings have been remarkably successful in drawing the racists out of the woodwork. Good job, Trump.

Awoke? They have always been here they just changed agenda from black welfare queens to criminal aliens.

Angry people are loud but we always learn on election day that they are not as many people as they claim they are. All bark no bite. They can manipulate the polls but not voting results.
