Trump a powerful voice for Jacksonian attitudes - San Antonio Express-News

Historian Walter Russell Mead once wrote a memorable essay on the Jacksonianism that, so many years later, serves as a very rough guide to the anti-PC and fiercely nationalistic populism of the 2016 Trump campaign.
Trump has trampled on almost every political piety, and gotten away with it, even when he has been factually wrong or had to backtrack. “The Jacksonian hero dares to say what the people feel and defies the entrenched elites,” Mead writes. “The hero may make mistakes, but he will command the unswerving loyalty of Jacksonian America so long as his heart is perceived to be in the right place.”

mocking the disabled would not seem like the right place for a heart.

I read the article regarding Trump and the disabled reporter. There were a lot of assumptions made, but that's it. No proof whatsoever.

Kinda like the "thousands and thousands" he saw celebrating in NJ on 9/11, eh?

i watched the video and did an image search on serge kovaleski. it's obvious that trump is mocking kovaleski's disability. his comment was “Now the poor guy, you ought to see the guy,.

also, when criticized by charles krauthammer, trump responded “Then I get called by a guy that can’t buy a pair of pants, I get called names?”. krauthammer is paralyzed from the waist down.

Wow. Just wow. At this point you've got to think that he is trying to tank his numbers. I mean, he can't really be that lacking in class and common decency...can he?

You can't get much lower than to make a comment/insult about a paralyzed person not being able to buy a pair of pants. It cuts deep when a person first has to switch to clothing with Velcro seams. Trump's scumbag, bullying nature gets clearer and clearer as he gets more exposure. He not only lost the disability vote but all the people who care for and love a disabled person.

He sure can. Because he's said these kinds of things all his public life, and has never suffered any consequences for it that he cared about.

Mein Trumpf is mentally ill. Probably in the early stages of Alzheimers.

That is far more succinct, and logically explains his asinine comments and whiny, childish behavior.

There is no way Trump would knowingly make fun of that reporter. He did not know what the reporter looked like.

Nobody spends more money helping disabled Americans than Donald Trump.
