Direct deposit, ATMs, electronic check clearing and electronic banking have allowed banks to clear checks with more speed and accuracy than previously imaginable. Hundreds of thousands of former middle class jobs have been replaced with skeleton crews of part time tellers.

How many accounting/ bookkeeping functions have been replaced with clouds and off the shelf software?

There is no president or Congressional majority who can do anything about this.

Those who expect the next president to make it all better are going to be very disappointed.

What we do need is leadership that knows we have problems and puts the few remaining jobs of Americans first. Or do you want the approach: "Damn the Torpedoes"?

I have to ask you, if it becomes evident that the college/university education will not get us a job; don't you think that fewer Americans will go to those institutions? Besides; why squander your money for no reason. That day is fast approaching. And, if you think that isn't it great that all of these immigrants have jobs; that is only temporary until they are replaced.

The same old, same old will be the end of our Nation as we know it. It is pretty simple logic; we produce products, that have value, and our money has worth. We print worthless paper and it has no value. We do not know how to fairly distribute wealth without seeing the actually personal contributions of each member of our society - do we pass out money simply because you were born? We need yardsticks - otherwise we will all die of obesity or anarchy.

If you think Bush was a big spender just wait until Bernie is in the White House. You're in for a big surprise!

This has added new jobs at companies that create and maintain the technology, and handle the admin for the electronic check clearing, ATMs and electronic banking. Lots of good paying jobs, much better pay than a bank teller. It's B2B so many people don't even know these companies exist. Fortune 500 companies like Fiserv, FIS and SERVE.

These jobs are still temporary. Companies don't like good paying jobs. In 2029, according to the experts; robots are supposed be as smart as humans. How many more years will it take before robots manufacture, design, and maintain other robots? I am waiting for them to replace all of the overpaid CEO's - then we will start worrying about these problems!

What we have is hardly unfettered capitalism. It's a horrific hybrid of socialism-lite and crony capitalism.

And NOTHING they are experiencing now would be as awful as pure socialism. Take a look at the USSR for a not-so-pretty picture of what that system is like.

Rand Paul because he is the only one to mention the Federal Reserve, and doesn't want to do stupid like "carpet bomb" ISIS.
