In another thread, a writer wrote that BHO had sponsored three or four bills that made it through to law. Not bad for a two year Senator who has, as I understand, a disproportionate number of floor votes where he voted "present" or in other words "I don't have an opinion." What disturbed me most however, was the writer's footnote. He stated something like Obama wrote and/or co-sponsored many other bills that didn't pass. Does this mean he wrote bad bills, bills that were not acceptable to the country, or just what? It's those unpassed bills that tell me to watch out.

That was me, Tom.

Now, to the extent that Senator Obama has been decreed by (some conservative organization or other) the Most Liberal Senator of 2007, he must have been doing something to have won that award. Otherwise, he'd have been voted the Laziest Senator of 2007, or Most Absent Senator of 2007.

People can feel free to interpret his various bills. I posted them because his opposition continues to ask "what has he done". Well, those who dub him the Most Liberal, seemed to be able to find out rather easily.

You can't do that In U.S Senate. the 'present' option was in his home state. You are mixing the two things.

Here are the votes on which they base their rating.

Out of the 99 votes they counted, Obama did not vote on 30+ of them. Why not? He "did not vote" more times than Hillary didn't vote. He was missing on approximately 1/3 of the votes.

Why?

Because he knew he was going to run for President. The reason Senators rarely get elected to President is that they vote on all these bills which almost always have provisions in them that can be held against them. Your opponent just has to say, "You voted for (INSERT BAD THING HERE)." When in actuality the bill was complicated, had a ton of provisions and amendments, and may have been good overall with just a few bad things. Almost every vote they make has some sort of compromise in it that either party can hold against them later.

Which makes him cynical, dishonest or cowardly in the extreme. If he traded his vote for his personal ambition he is cynical. Plus he is dishonest in telling the people of Illinois that he would represent their interests and those of the nation in the Senate but then subordinated those interests to his ambition. And he is cowardly in that he was more afraid of how his record would be represented by political opponents than he was driven by principle.

So he's a calculating politician, and you're able to admit it.

A refreshing change from the typical Obama supporter.
