Presidential candidate that puts the fear in horror writer Stephen King - AOL

He brings up a good point. Electing Cruz, a fundamentalist Christian, would be along the lines of electing an Imam

For those who need a clarification, in case you have been asleep or in a Coma for the past 35 or so years, here is what is happening.

Muslim Extremists, or fundamentalists, are creating and inspiring terror attacks worldwide. This is in response to socio-political post cold war angst, post colonialism and even dates back to the dissolving of the Ottoman Empire in the 20th century. While the specifics are varied, most terrorists believe in giving their own lives in the murder of innocent non-terrorists. One selling point of radical Islamic Fundamentalism is that if a terrorist dies while committing an act of violence against a non-terrorist, then he will wake up in Heaven "Surrounded by, and attended to by 72 Virgins. (No word yet on how long they will remain virgins, or if they are later replaceable once worn out.....)

Cruz however represents another extreme: Christian fundamentalists. Many of these people believe that soon (any day now) Jesus will magically appear from the sky, usher in an Apocalypse/Armageddon, and destroy all Evil and reign in a paradise made up of his followers. Most Christian Fundamentalists will state that their group (church, cult, congregation etc) Represents the "Followers". Ted Included.

So while one side wants to kill innocent people (and themselves in doing so) the other side wants their leader to return and kill everyone else. Both sides want an Armageddon. Both sides want an end to the world as we know it. Both sides want the violent destruction of life.

Scary? Yes. It makes The Tommyknockers or Pet Semetary look like a bedtime book.

(Sadly, some people feel that the Bible and the Koran make good bedtime books as well. Which is partially why we have this religious mess today anyway.)

What Muslim Extremists, members of Houston's First Baptist Church and ted Cruz DO NOT realize is that many of us are too intelligent, too enlightened and possess too much self esteem to fall victim to magical thinking, ecclesiastical or otherwise. We do not live our lives thinking we will be rewarding for hurting an innocent people, or that it is okay to loaf around and wait for some guy to fly down from the clouds and fix all of our problems.
And based on the hateful attitudes of the aforementioned groups, it would seem that the world is tiring of such ignorant displays of faith.

Which brings up validity in Stephen King's article. Why elect someone who is part of a group who wants to hasten and witness the end of the world?
Why not elect someone who can fix problems, and take the more peaceful (realistic?) route.

Think about it before you vote.

He also hates your boy Trump. This about sums it up...

King is a staunch Democrat and a confirmed liberal.

King has simultaneously endorsed Obama and blasted the conservatives that hate him. Truly, the amount of contempt and bile sent Obama’s way during the 2012 election is staggering and King worried that someone may try to assassinate him. King hates conservatives like Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly and the Tea Party. Beck, according to King is “Satan’s younger brother,” while O’Reilly is “Satan’s older, mentally challenged brother.”

No Surprise there. Many in the art world are outspoken liberals.

Oh BTW, Trump is not my boy. I try to get my boys to behave a little better in public.
On the survey, I agree mostly with Cruz's policies but not on religion. I believe that religion has evolved into a problem, not a solution. Which is why many educated people are abandoning it.

Of course, oddly enough, my least common factor on the quiz was the non-religious neo-socialist Sanders, who would garner a vote from me to Trump in a one on one race.

I wonder how King feels about Bill Clinton's Wife?

Take a look at what this country has become. Its become a PC, liberal sh*thole under Obama filled with spoiled, victim mentality, the world owes me everything people with no respect for one another and who raise kids even worse than they are. Educated? More like completely stupid. Im not a religious person myself but its easy to see that this country was a far better place when it was a majority Christian and people were raised with morals, values and respect. That usually goes hand in hand with religious people. I mean TRUE religious people, not the ones who go to church twice a year and claim to be Christians.

I see the issues you point out and draw quite different conclusions.

The difference being:

I don't scapegoat a president I don't like to be "responsible" for the moral and personal responsibility failings of parts of the American public.

I don't think we are in some huge moral failing because abortion and gay marriage are legal (abortion since the early 1970s). If you think these two items are worthy of top 5 issues facing the USA then we are not even on the same planet when it comes to political priorities.

Funny how you said your not religious but somehow imply that you are so much better a person than those of us you don't know, but with whom you do on agree.

Was the USA much better off when we were (more) religious ? I don't think it was. Were the 1940s better than the 1960s ? or 1970s? or 1980s ? Everyone seems to think their generation got it right and the current one is screwing up the country.

Well the country is not screwed up and plenty of people like it just fine. Can our politicans do better ? We we all seem to agree that they can - if only they focus on real issues and not the ones that suit their political agenda.

King is losing it I think; regardless who really cares what he thinks? What a dumb post OP. King was, at on time a fun and great fictional author. His books sold in the millions, but that certainly does not mean what he says about politics should be taken seriously by anyone.

For the record, the majority of Christians don't want Armageddon, but the Bible says at some point it is coming. Most actually feel it will be quite a sad time, because it means God's patience has run out. Some believe Christians' won't be a part of the tribulation, some feel we are taking to heaven 1/2 way in between and some say, we go through it with the rest of the world. I think it is fairly natural to not want to be present and hope we won't be, but be prepared either way. Just as every generation thinks the others screwed it up, Christians since Christ's death have thought his return is eminent. I don't believe it is more likely to happen today over any other day. It will happen when God decides to initiate it.

Liberal Policies scare me more than Stephen King's writing. At least his nightmares can be woken up from.

FYI - I'm not a fan of Ted Cruz though either.
cd :O)

But, but, but in another thread you told us Trump was nothing but a liberal. WHY would King, the "confirmed liberal" you say he is, hat another liberal?

Oh its totally possible for liberals to hate other liberals. The same way Republicans can hate other Republicans. Its quite common. Im voting Republican this year and I cannot stand the other Republicans running this year aside from Cruz. Although I did kinda like Christie.
