What most people miss is that his answer is intended to purposely generate attention, argument, and debate all of which Trump benefits from and he is a master of this type of self promotion. See because while we're all talking about Trump and his gall not to know about the KKK all the attention is again on Trump with free press and attention while his opponents are left again in the shadows having to pay for such air time and attention.

gotta give Donald his props for knowing how to really play the media

Except Trump is lying, as he did once condemn Duke but is now pretending not to know him:

However, Trump had spoken out about Duke, recognizing him as a Klansman, in 2000 when he decided to end his exploration of a run for president, according to the New York Times. “The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. Fulani,” Trump said at the time. “This is not company I wish to keep.”

Trump won't unequivocally denounce his KKK supporters:

August 2015:
Asked if he would repudiate an endorsement from Duke, Trump replied: "Sure."

"I would do that if it would make you feel better," he said, adding "I don't know anything about him."

How exactly is this a stupid "gotcha" question, seems like it is a very easy and straight forward question...

Yes, Donald is a robe wearing racist. Keeps Nazi flags in his basement where he masturbates to crush videos.

The questions is ignorance personified.

I'm not going to vote for him but I'd still feel icky resorting to this.
