1. There is no die-hard Republican I know (and I live in Idaho) who would ever lower themselves to vote for Hillary Clinton.

2. It would look different than it looks now. Do you really believe that the current crop of Republicans we have in office in this country are wringing their hands because they are seriously concerned that Trump is bad for the United States of America? Neither do I? It's about themselves. Their power, their money, their comfort, their benefits, their job security, their promises, their scum sucking, self-interested priorities.

This from someone who has serious concerns about Trump.

I suspect that if Trump is the nominee, most Republicans will get behind him. There will be a significant number of Republicans who do not, but they will probably be offset by Trump's attracting new voters, disaffected Democrats, and independents.

From what Tom DeLay said last night on MSNBC, there is a going to be a serious move to stop him at the convention. I think if they do that, he runs as independent, and the election is handed to Hillary Clinton. That would be very destructive to the GOP.

Oldhag is one die-hard Republican here on C-D who has claimed a Trump candidacy will force her to vote for Clinton. There were several others whose names I can't remember now who chimed in and agreed with her. And if you read that link I provided in my last post in this thread, you'll see they are not alone.

Yes, I do. And if you do a little bit of research you will see that there are many Republicans who think this.

I have to wonder what is going through Trump's mind this morning. Every news channel is non-stop coverage of the plans being hatched to stop Trump. He must get it that the party - the bosses and the money - will stop at nothing to deny him the nomination. Why would he stick with the Republicans? He must be weighing a third party bid. Even if he can't win, he can destroy those who would destroy him.

I'm sure he would run a third party canadicy if it came down to it although that scenario seems less and less likely given his lead and momentum. Either way he'll destroy the Republican Party from within or from without.

The thing I'm wondering about is Chris Christie. What indictments is he running from in New Jersey that he would jump so wholeheartedly on board with Trump at the consternation of the Republican establishment. Trump definitely could use an establishment wing man though. Maybe Trump offered him unlimited all you can eat buffets at any of his hotels and casinos.

No chance. The Trumpettes would destroy the party from within.

That's going to be the problem with the existing Republican leadership. The 1% has always needed a willing horde to do the heavy lifting. The horde has a new master now.

The disaffected Republicans have been hearing for over a decade what they need to do to win, and it has only left them further and further outside. They have nothing to lose, so are prepared to march to someone who will tell them what they want to hear, even if they won't get it, if for no other reason than the Party Leadership are completely stunned into non-reaction.

It's sort of like a prison riot. In theory, the Guards are in charge. In reality, the inmates LET the guards be in charge for fear of a worse outcome.

Right now, there's no potential worse outcome for the non-elite republicans to keep them in line.

The Republican Party will still be around, probably, but severely weakened and discreditted to the point that another conservative party could come along to replace or challenge them.

What irony that the Republican Party was formed to abolish slavery and defeat the south and now the south, on super Tuesday, has a chance to destroy the Republican Party once and for all, by a New York billionaire nonetheless
Your premise is incorrect. The republicans are not conservative. You never discussed which policy of his is bad.
Your post has no substance. Yes We Can!

Overreaction by the establishment. Did you see that speech by Paul Ryan? Wow.
