CNN had reported, at least earlier in the primary season, that most Democrats crossing over were for Trump.

Yeah, I wondered that, too. As much as I would like to think no Democrats are switching over in any significant numbers to vote for Trump, I never thought we'd even be talking about Trump any more at this stage, so I don't count on anything anymore.

Because anything could happen? Hillary could drop dead on November 1 or get indicted on October 15. Otherwise, it's a cakewalk but still. Gotta cover all the bases.

Both acceptable outcomes however the former is much preferred over the latter.

Not likely, given that Trump averages 36% of the vote and is actually underperforming Romney and McCain at this stage in their campaigns. He's a mediocre frontrunner.

Not really, he just broke 50% nationally. https://today.yougov.com/news/2016/0...lls-and-carso/

It's likely an outlier. Here are national polls conducted in March.

YouGov/Economist (3/10-12): 53%
NBC/WSJ (3/3-6): 30%
ABC/WaPo (3/3-6): 34%

On FiveThirtyEight's retrospective report card, YouGov gets C+ whereas NBC/WSJ and ABC/WaPo each gets A-.

Also, keep in mind that in February, out of 11 national polls, Mr. Trump scored over 40% just once.

Sorry.

All is fair in love and war and that is the state of politics today. Sometime people out smart themselves.

I'm a traditionally Democrat voter who registered as a Republican in a closed primary state last SUMMER just so that I could vote for the biggest idiot on the Republican ballot in the primary, thus helping to ensure a win by a Democrat candidate in the general election.

It's no big deal to do this. I can change my registration back at the courthouse when the mood strikes me.

Party membership is really pretty fluid. I got the idea to do this after attending a regional Democrat party meeting and seeing it taken over by a group of "right to life" pubbies who had registered as Democrat just to affect the local discussion of the party platform.

Actually at this point I don't think I even have to vote for the biggest idiot in the Republican primary, because you pubbies are doing it all by yourselves!

Secretary Clinton will win in November because you pubbies weren't able to put forward a viable candidate.

One poll, huh?

Besides, I was referring to his results in the primaries. He averages 36% of the vote, which is below Romney and McCain at this point in their campaigns.

Hell, even Bob Dole (who everyone considers a weak nominee) crushes Donald. Dole had the nomination wrapped up four weeks after the first votes were cast and ripped off 15 consecutive victories where he was frequently over the 45 percent mark in a five-candidate field. Trump's run is nowhere near as impressive.
