Here is a possibility and an interesting one even if not likely:

Trump sees, before long he will not get the needed delegates to ensure the nomination:
He decides to run as an independent.

Sanders sees there is no way for him to win over enough delegates to stop Clinton:
He decides to run on another ticket, maybe an independent as well.

Hillary is the choice on the Dem side.

Kasich on the R side: of Cruz for that matter or still maybe a contested convention.

Now we have a 4 man/woman race. Boy would that be a new experience.

That would be cool, one for the record books.

Trump isn't going to drop out. He may run as an independent if he's denied the nomination at the convention, but he won't just concede. And Bernie won't challenge Hillary in the general. He's running a protest campaign. He's been pretty clear about that from the beginning.

Bernie wouldn't. He has explicitly ruled out an independent run many times. He hates the Republicans . . . he is not going to hand the election to them . . . . like he said before. Bernie keeps his word, as we all know.

I didn't mean literally "drop out" I meant run as a third party.

Who knows what Trump is going to do? I don't even think Trump knows. I think it's pretty clear though he won't run as an independent, because he won't have to. I think he's going to be the nominee. Sigh. Trump, yep, THAT Trump, is going to be the Republican candidate for president. Of course he's going to lose in a landslide and of course the party will not learn its lesson. They didn't in 2008, when she of "punk ass thuggery" fame was in their ticket, and they won't now. This party has a long way to go before it reaches rock bottom. Deez Nutz will probably head their ticket before it's all said and done.

Sanders has been clear that he's absolutely not running a "protest campaign". At least that's what i've heard him say a number of times curing the past few months.

He has also said he will not run as an independent and increase the Republican's chances of victory. Maybe if it's Trump, he'll figure what the hell and do it anyway. It's not like Trump can win, right?

I heard on NPR that's it's a numerical impossibility that Kasich get enough delegates at this point. I also heard that a number of the GOP powers that be will be meeting in Washington this week to talk about a 3rd party candidate running.
I think i heard correctly. I was half asleep but i think i heard correctly.
