I've been considering not renewing my monthly donations to him if he rules out running as an independent. I'd figure the vast majority of his donors would agree he should run as an independent, as far as I'm concerned he owes his donors that much.

Running as an independent would be the dumbest idea, why would we want to hand an election to the GOP when we already know they have no shot at winning this election. Sanders has never once said he would run as an independent, and in many states he can't run as an independent in this election because he has run in the Democrat Primary.

If Sanders loses this run for nomination, he will go back to being a Senator like he has been this entire time. If anything, he has helped the Social Democrat movement and hopefully will help get a few of them elected into office to give him and Warren more support with pushing this political movement further.

What Clift said. If you've been donating to him with the understanding he'd run as an independent, stop now. He never said he would do that. In fact, he said repeatedly he would not. Bernie is an idealist, but he's also a pragmatist. He knows all that an independent campaign would accomplish is to help Chump get closer to the White House.
