You should research how much we subsidize Europe's military protection. The EU provides minimal funds for military security.

Yes, because countries run by an isolationist always prosper right?

And the United States has no ulterior motive for this, right?

Give me a break. The EU has a larger GDP than the US. They don't need us for squat.

Should American taxpayers be paying for military protection of all of Europe?

The US pays for all of Europe's defense? News to me, please link us to a credible source proving that. Oh and if you dont understand the grave importance of having strong allies, you should probably read up on some history.

Nope. I won't. I suggest you find it for yourself. Obama even called England to task for taking advantage of our defense of their country very recently. But I guess you don't read international news....

How could we fight wars half way around the world without those bases in Europe and other countries? Answer: We couldn't.

You won't because you can't. That 73% of NATO is a phony number. The US pays something like 22%.

Absurd. There are almost no American combat units in Europe. The U.S. has some bases in Europe, mainly to support an absurd war against terror.
People in France, UK or Germany absolutely don't feel protected by American troops. Their presence makes Europe more insecure but surely not safer. Maybe people in Eastern Europe see that somewhat different.
The reason why the U.S. spends a far higher percentage for military is the lobbying of the powerful military-industrial complex in the U.S.
When some Americans think that they would protect Europe with their taxes, then they must be rather deluded.
