WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan is refusing to support Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for president.

Ryan is the GOP's highest-ranking office holder and made the stunning announcement on CNN's "The Lead" on Thursday.

It came two days after Trump essentially clinched the nomination with a commanding win in Indiana that forced his last two opponents from the race.

Ryan says he wants to be able to support Trump but that he's not there yet. He says Trump has work to do to unify the party.

Ryan says many Republicans want to see "a standard-bearer who bears our standards" and "unifies all the wings of the Republicans Party."

I personally think the voters will be ok with this. It shows that with Trump being the nominee, he is going to shake things up within the republican party.

Trump had little chance of winning in Nov with the full backing of the party. With a fractured party and millions vowing to never support him? Forget it, Trump will lose in an epic landslide.

Paul Ryan refused to deny illegal alien sanctuary jurisdictions any federal funding. He's just another RINO who is an invasion cheerleader.

Buc, you have the following choices when it comes to November:

1) Deal with it and get on the Trump train.
2) Vote for the dem nominee
3) Vote third party
4) If write-ins are allowed in FL, do that
5) Don't vote at all.

All the wailing and the gnashing of teeth isn't going to change a thing.

And Ted Cruz was going to bury Trump according to you - get a new gig - it's getting old.

Luckily for Trump, I dont decide who to support based upon who Ryan says I should.

Paul Ryan will be changing his tune in a few months. He'll stand in line like a dutiful soldier and salute the emperor like the others who said the same thing earlier only to follow-up later by doing a 180.

If he has any hope of running in 2020 and winning he will. These politicians still don't get it. Unless they work with and unify behind Trump - their own seat may not be theirs when they come up for re-election.
