So...Until there is no longer a need for coal ever again, what's wrong with this?

He didn't say that! The industry has been declining for 60 years and he is going to bring it back! The only real way to do that is to force us (make a law) that we have to use coal. He said he would reopen the mines.

See? This is the real value of the presidency.

Nothing ... just another yapping point for the ankle-biting chihuahuas.

BOS2IAD nailed it.

MUCH better for the US to use our coal as long as mining it is done cleanly than depending on OPEC for oil.

Not to be a jerk...I feel for WV and KY...Shouldn't the US move away from Nuclear, Oil, Coal, and Fossil Fuel type energies. Couldn't a candiate come forth say America needs to be independent of other nations for energy. America also needs to move towards the future in regards to a greener Earth. America needs to stop having Americans displaced from work. America and Americans do not need to be beholden to big corporations that control America's politics and pay poorly to Americans in a hazardous environment.

We need to aid West Virginia and Kentucky. Need not only give additional funds so the State can give stipends to those displaced workers so their families can eat and have a roof over their head. We need to get income back to those families. These States will be where Green Energy will start. We will manufacture solar panels here, windmills will be made here, machinery for new age electricity will be made here, and college's will receive grants to research new energy sources. Our goal for every coal mine closed workers will transition to these new jobs will not be displaced.

Nah, I like to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer... reopen the mines until your pie in the sky dreams are reality.

People will have jobs, live longer, the Planet will be healthier, our debt will be lower, and will be less war over land for energy.

We could even give money to support the growth of more farming in these areas so less food in the US is not imported in.
