I've got kids who are still years away from being able to vote but they're old enough to understand some of what's going on. They've been taught the "10,000 foot up", basic governmental structure of this country and they watch the news so they sorta know what's going on.
One of my kids (8 years old) asked me yesterday if Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump was our new President. I explained to her that Barack Obama was still our current President and that every 4 years we have an election to pick a new POTUS. I also explained that in November the American voters would be voting for either Hillary or Donald.
She then said
"Hillary tells lies and Donald Trump makes people really mad, nobody on TV likes either one of them, why can't people pick somebody we like?" ![Embarrassment](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.gif)
I honestly couldn't answer her.
Has anyone had this conversation with their younger children?
