Somehow this latest revelation is comical because of all the hype, not just from Trump, but from the right-wing mouth pieces about what an astute tax code hacker Trump supposedly is.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised.

Here it is, straight from the horse's mouth - Trump's tax accountant for over 25 years.

Trump Tax Attorney: 'He Didn't Understand the Code'

Quote:

"As far as I know, and that only goes through late '96, he didn't understand the code," said Jack Mitnick, a former tax adviser for Trump, in an interview with NBC's TODAY. "Nor would he have had the time and the patience to learn the provisions. "

Mitnick, a CPA and attorney who did taxes for Trump from the 1960s to 1996, said that when Trump was married to Ivana, she was the one more likely to ask questions about how the taxes were prepared. Mitnick said that Trump's father Fred was very detail-oriented, while the younger Trump was more of a "concept" man.

"He knew that we would produce the lowest possible tax for him within the law. And he never went into the details," said Mitnick, who said it took him six months to prepare Trump's taxes. "He understood that he had to rely on us to generate the returns, that it was beyond his knowledge."

The irony here is that Trump's ex-wife most likely knows more about the tax code than Trump does.

Seems kind of unethical for a tax attorney to be discussing this.

He is not talking about the tax return, he's talking about the person he used to work for.

Nothing unethical about it. Anymore than Karl Rove talking about George W. Bush would be unethical.

So what. Do you think Warren Buffett or Bill Gates or even Hillary Clinton really "understand" their taxes? That's why people like them hire people like the tax attorney and pay them very well for their expertise.

I'm certainly no fan of Donny but I don't see what the big deal is of him not understanding the tax code, a full time occupation, in and of itself.

Does Trump know the tax codes better than Hillary? What about how the game is played? Probably so.

Does he know the intricate details better than a tax attorney who spent his life around tax code? Probably not.

Shocker.

I never imagined Trump sitting down at the kitchen table filling out his tax return; did you? I figured he was smart enough to hire expert tax accountants to do it for him.

The issue is Trump claims to know the system and that makes him smart.

Tony Schwartz, ghostwriter of Art of the Deal, has some terse words about Trump.

In fact, it seems that everyone who hasn't signed a nondisclosure agreement has something unflattering to say about the man.

Has anyone from Trump's past testified to what a great man he is?

Other than himself, of course.
