I posted this awhile ago. Maybe last year. I was a fan of the USFL back then (Tampa Bay team). I knew of his history with league and he's considered a big reason for its failure although the NFL is such a huge legal monopoly, it's pretty much impenetrable. Trump is responsible for a lot of business failures including casinos, pro football, airlines, steaks, and condos.
He's left a lot of people unpaid yet he's taking a nearly $1 bil loss to the taxpayers by not paying Federal taxes for decades.
His failures and high risk gambles don't bother his followers.
I was into football back in those days. The USFL 'drafted' Hershel Walker, the Heisman Trophy winner (who signed, I forget with whom, for a lot of money).
Since their draft preceded the NFL draft, when the NFL began drafting teams passed over Walker, since he was already committed to the USFL. However, the Dallas Cowboys leapt at the chance to draft Walker, betting that the league would fold. It was an exciting day in Cowboy land when the league failed, and Walker came to Dallas.
The USFL had a tough road ahead of it, but not impossible. For those of you too young to remember, a new professional football league began in 1960, the AFL. The AFL was able to succeed, in part, due to a favorable ABC network contract, as well as savvy owners. The NFL and AFL agreed to a merger in 1966 (although not immediately), resulting in the creation of the Super Bowl.
The NFL won the first two Super Bowls (Green Bay, under Lombardi), but for Super Bowl III, Joe Namath of the New York Jets (formerly the New York Titans) predicted a victory over the Baltimore Colts (which many, including myself, thought laughable). Jets won. The next year the merger was completed between the two leagues.
As such, when the USFL was formed, I thought it not unlikely that down the line they would agree to merge with the NFL. I recall talk about having three leagues under the NFL umbrella, and how playoffs would work. Of course, the NFL owners were adamant that they would have nothing to do with the USFL, and I guess the new league collapsed under its own weight of players salaries, etc.

Trump signed him along with a ton of other high priced players. Spent a lot of money - like he is now. Nearly $100 mil of his own money to get elected. Talk about a big failure, if he loses to Clinton. Money well spent? I don't think so.

That's right... HIS OWN MONEY!! The Clinton's have never spent a dime of their own money, just keep taking it from tax payers and donations to their corrupt foundation.
Few, if any, very successful businessman like Trump get to where they are without some failures along the way. Anyone who expects a perfect record from a lifetime in business knows NOTHING about the subject. You know, like Hillary.
