We drove even though as the crow flies, we're not that far away. However, getting to the polling place on foot requires us to have to walk along a narrow road with no sidewalks that has lots of construction vehicles parked there. We figured that it might actually be safer to drive.

Well, let's see...
My mailbox is one tenth of a mile from the house; that's where I get my ballot.
My dining room table is about 30 feet from where I am now sitting. That is where I actually voted.
The Post Office (no, I do NOT put important mail in the roadside box!) is about 6 miles away. That is where I mailed the ballot.
My "normal" polling place is about 4 miles away.

Mine is two blocks. Maybe it is just in my head but I feel there is something quaintly old school democratic (small d) about walking to vote.

I don't think anything in my suburb is within 1/4 of a mile. My neighbor's house is barely within 1/4 of a mile LOL.

My polling place is one mile from where I live. I voted about 9:30 AM (So Cal). There were just a tad more people this time around than four years ago if I remember correctly. Between waiting and voting it took me about 25 minutes. I'm glad this is over.

-Cheers.
