View Poll Results: Does Clinton's Popular Vote Victory Reduce Trump's Mandate?
YES. Trump's vote count is too low to be a mandate for sweeping change. 70 27.89%
NO. Trump won, and that's reason enough for a mandate for sweeping change. 125 49.80%
DOESN'T MATTER. The mandate concept is too vague to mean anything. 56 22.31%
Voters: 251. You may not vote on this poll

Popular vote count Nov. 16 0800 PST

Clinton.... 62,414,099... 47.8%
Trump...... 61,255,290... 46.9%

Clinton lead = 1,158,809 (source: Cook Political Report)
<1% is not the "largest margin in U.S. history"...are you sure you're using that word correctly?

Is there a prize ceremony planned for the winner of the Popular vote once it is finally tallied?

Based on the number of people who didn't vote who might show up for midterm elections, Republicans should just stay drunk for a while longer, the next four years could be a disaster for the GOP. Trump Was was elected by the smallest numbers of everything, bigly small 26%

Says those who predicted the same for this election.

Fail.

And trump won by the rules of our election system that have been in place for a long time now. And won several traditionally blue states.

Accept what is/what can't be changed. You'll be happier person in the end.

Ryan is floating the idea of a complete Medicare overhaul, that may be too much too far for the slim mandate that Trump has.
Your concern over the Republican Party's future is touching. If the R's go too far, they'll lose seats in 2018 and the presidency in 2020. Meanwhile, he's got 4 years to prove he's competent and move in the direction he spoke of re immigration, trade, the Supreme Court, terrorism, the Swamp, etc..

Of course, some of the anti-Trump fear-mongers tell us he's a fascist, Nazi, fuehrer, dictator wannabe, so maybe we've just witnessed the last national election and he won't worry about 2020

So you have actual splits on those 40%+ who didn't vote? They were majority Democrat it seems...according to your thesis? Links? Facts? Data? Or are you just making this up?

I think Clinton winning the popular vote argument would hold more merit were it not for the fact that Trump crushed her in electoral votes, and won traditionally blue states like MI, PA and WI. But that's irrelevant now...he's the next President. That's all we need to know

How many illegal votes did Hillary get? One million? Two million? Maybe only 500,000.

Yes, her 1.1 million vote margin is the largest in terms of vote count. On a percentage basis it will likely the second largest. The largest percentage margin was Tilden's 4% popular vote victory over Rutherford B Hayes, who won the EC 185-184.
