View Poll Results: Does Clinton's Popular Vote Victory Reduce Trump's Mandate?
YES. Trump's vote count is too low to be a mandate for sweeping change. 70 27.89%
NO. Trump won, and that's reason enough for a mandate for sweeping change. 125 49.80%
DOESN'T MATTER. The mandate concept is too vague to mean anything. 56 22.31%
Voters: 251. You may not vote on this poll

So it's not unreasonable to believe that if not for Comey she could've been the President-elect by a narrow margin.
Hell if it weren't for Hillary herself she could been the President-elect by an eve wider margin.

Plurality is when a candidate receives more than any other but does not receive an absolute majority (i.e. Hillary Clinton).

Did Hillary receive more of the popular vote than Trump, yes she did (not that it matters because she lost the electoral votes); do a majority of this country's residents want her as President, NO they do not, only 48% want that.
Both candidates were terrible. I said it before that the winner of this election would only be in office for one term. Unless trump tones it down with his tweets and mouth he will only make it one term. He won't be be able to sustain his lunacy and govern with success. It won't happen. Unless he does a complete 180 the honeymoon is going to be over quickly. Let's see where we are 18 months into his presidency.

It may be funny to some, but wait until he is in there and actually governing. I believe he has no idea what the job is going to entail.

I see no way to mitigate the Comey role. It showed clearly in the polling and did the job. IF Clinton had a couple of weeks to recover the outcome would have been different.

And of course Clinton could have done better...no email server for instance which was really a stupid mistake. Or the Democrats could have done better. Even Biden would have been a better choice.

All that though neither here or there. We got Trump. Should be a fun ride.

What everyone ignores is that Hillary DID win the popular (actual person) vote by 600,000 votes.

If you want to break the popular vote down state-by-state, here are the latest numbers according to AP, as of November 13:
  • Trump won Alabama with 1,306,925 to Clinton’s 718,084.
  • Trump won Alaska with 130,415 to Clinton’s 93,007.
  • Trump won Arizona with 1,021,154 to Clinton’s 936,250.
  • Trump won Arkansas with 677,904 to Clinton’s 378,729.
  • Clinton won California with 5,931,283 to Trump’s 3,184,721.
More here
Obviously, she lost the electoral college votes, but this just shows how close it was and that more people did vote for her than Trump.

No matter. Trump's landslide was YUGE. The flipped 7 Obama states to the GOP. No way at all to minimize that.

(edited for brevity)

Obviously, she lost the electoral college votes, but this just shows how close it was and that more people did vote for her than Trump.

Actually, those figures are way out of date. As of yesterday, she led by over 2.5 million votes.

Quote:
Hillary Clinton’s lead in total votes over President-elect Donald Trump has reached 2,526,184 as ballots continue to be tallied.

As Clinton’s popular lead surpasses 2.5 million votes, it grows larger than the lead with which 10 presidents have won the general election, the New York Times reports. That means Clinton is up by 1.9 percentage points overall in the popular vote — approaching the lead that polls predicted in the final days before the election, the Times notes.

“When you really drill down on this election, if you change the vote in five counties, four in Florida, one in Michigan, we’d be having a totally opposite conversation right now,” Fabrizio said of the race. “For all the money that was spent, for the all the effort that was made, literally four counties in Florida, one county in Michigan puts us at 261 [electoral] votes and makes Hillary Clinton the president."

In the article it says that Fabrizio agreed with Clinton's pollster that both their numbers showed that FBI Director Comey's letter caused a defection of Clinton voters that probably played in a key role in Trump's very narrow victory.
