In the last couple of years, there were many pronouncements that Republicans would be wiped out forever due to demographic changes. What did you think?

I did on the national level. On the state level, not even close.

Yes, of course. I thought that Barack Obama winning two elections was proof that Democrats would always win presidential elections, forever and ever. I believed that the Latino vote was the only vote that mattered. What the Latino vote has to do with most of the country I was never sure, but that's what I thought. I thought that the drubbings the Democrats took in 2010 and 2014 were meaningless and had nothin' to do with nothin'. I felt the same way about Republicans holding 31 governor seats to the Democrats' 18. Didn't you?

I thought at times it looked bleak as far as Presidential elections. The dems losses at the state and congressional level are stunning since the Obama election in 2008. Stunning.

The dems still believe their own predictions it appears, they just think Hillary was too flawed (in hindsight). Naming Keith Ellison chair of the DNC, if that happens as predicted, tells me they've learned nothing and are doubling down on the bets they've made.

I shook my head for a year as pronouncements were coming primarily from liberals, but also from the right. Made with such authority as if they really KNEW what the hell was going to happen. Clintons' going to prison! The GOP won't win another election for 20 years! NYT has Clinton win at 98%! Trump is a Russian plant!

It's been a crazy year, with crazy pronouncements, crazy declarations, all crazy all the time.

All I kept thinking was "no way am I gonna make any kind of declarations" - because I had no idea how this was all going to play out, and I had no desire for threads to be brought back from the grave (as they are being brought back now) showing all the stupid crap I wrote at the height of the craziness.

All I knew for certain was that Clinton would be terrible for the country and it has been a very worrisome year.

1 year ago, did you think the Republicans were about to be extenguished?

I still do!

I think they're gonna look damn foolish controlling the Legislative and Executive branches and getting nothing done.

For the record, I thought the Dems had a reason to be optimistic due to demographic changes highly favored them but I thought Republicans would counter with a candidate to appeal to Hispanics and women. What I hadn't figured on is Trump....that surprised me.

I meant to post this as a poll. Can the moderator add these comments to the poll? Caused by my lack of experience posting polls.
