It has never happened before. But going purely off the law, there really is nothing to prevent the EC from not electing Trump.
That's the purpose of the electoral college electors to protect the country from the masses. As much as the masses were affected by misinformation by a foreign power, I can certainly see an argument for it but I honestly hope it doesn't happen it would do more harm than good, the fact is there is a generation of progressive who only know an Obama white house, they should get a taste of the clown show that is sure to ensue maybe they will care enough to vote for the good guys next time.

I'd like for you to post the misinformation you speak of .
Imagine a Trump/Kaine administration (or Clinton/Pence to give equal thought).
I actually think a mixed administration could bring about some real compromise. But maybe I'm just deluded. LOL
actually you are deluded. a mixed administration would only mean the vice president would be doing a simple job, basically overseeing the senate, and casting a deciding vote in case of a tie, and going to unimportant ceremonial functions.
If no one gets to 270, the House votes from the top 3 contenders.
Yes, and all of those top 3 have to at least 1 electoral vote....which is really, in this situation...just another way of presenting the same thing because in order for there to be a third person in this scenario for 2016, someone would have to get one electoral vote in order to rise above all of the other people who had zero (what McMullin was essentially trying to do).
I heard a few hours ago on television that the list of so-called 'Hamilton Electors' has grown to 50....but the actual composition of the list wasn't revealed.
The Hamilton Electors have a website. Their website doesn't even list the identities of the Hamilton Electors . The Hamilton Electors want the Electoral College electors from states that Trump won to VOTE FOR a different REPUBLICAN...rather than vote for Trump...for POTUS. All that would do, if the total of 50 is correct, is move the election to the House vote you mention above. Technically, those electors could probably vote for Hillary, but there is a decent chance they would face lawsuits initiated by angry general election voters if they did that.

You're right....this is technically possible....because if fewer than 270 electors vote for Trump the decision for POTUS goes to the house, but the decision for the VP goes to the Senate, but given that the Republicans control both chambers, it is highly unlikely.
As a Hillary supporter I'm absolutely opposed to any action that denies Trump the Presidency. Everyone needs to get to see just what kind of job he's going to do.
Let's see where we are in four years. I'd like it all to play out in its full and dreadful glory.
